❗❗ An Important Message from Pastor Mike❗❗

March 18, 2020

Dear Family and Friends of Church of the Harvest,

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid." John 14:27. These words, when first heard, would take on a far greater significance in the days that followed. I pray these words bring comfort for you today more now then ever.

With the rest of the world, we are watching with concern as the developments of COVID-19 continue to consume our attention. How do we as a Church respond to this situation?

1. Love our neighbors. We must be concerned that our response demonstrates love and concern.

2. Honor those in authority. We must respect our Federal, State, and Local authorities.

3. Be responsible. We must do our part to help secure the health and wellbeing of our families, friends and neighbors.

For these reasons, we will be suspending all public services at least until April 12. It would be wonderful to celebrate Resurrection Sunday together again. That would be our desire, however, if the authorities still feel it would be appropriate, the suspension may be extended. This decision is being made, not out of fear, but out of love, respect, and responsibility to honor others as we continue to serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We are currently exploring some creative ways to stay connected during this time, using Social media and other available resources. Please continue to use our website for encouragement and communication. We will post any developments in schedules and events. I remain available for any needs that may arise. Please feel free to call me, my cell # is (516) 729-1062.

Our food pantry will continue to operate as resources remain available. We are anticipating a growing need in our community. It will function following strict protocols as recommended by state and local authorities to ensure the safety of our volunteers.

Although the coronavirus pandemic has been a disruptive force in the world today, it is not one that has slipped by the Lords notice. If you study the history of the church, starting in Acts and extending to today, you discover not only the resilience of the Church but the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom.

I believe this is a great time to minister encouragement and truth in a deeply troubled period of our history. "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you." Isa 60:1

Please continue to pray and remember the words of the Psalmist "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Ps 46:1

In His Service,
Pastor Mike
